Every student at Heritage has a unique bundle of exceptional gifts and talents from our loving God. It is the purpose of “Careers” to assist students to discover and appreciate their interests and aptitudes, and accordingly to make good decisions at each stage of schooling, and beyond. Every teacher at Heritage, right from Kindergarten, has a role to play in this, modelling their lives as Godly men and women to inspire and mentor their students. Opportunities exist at every stage for a range of creative and service activities and development of employability skills.
Throughout the school, strengths are being discovered, workplaces are visited, and guest speakers talk about their lifelong journeys. In secondary, students are encouraged to consider future options in an escalating program including Safety, First Aid, Interview skills, personal presentation, resume writing, application letter-writing, Budgeting, Electoral and Tax Talks. We have a flexible approach to Work Experience, but still the majority of students will research options in Year 9, then have two opportunities in Year 10 to find out first-hand about several jobs, while being actively supported and insured by the school. Check out the school newsletter for updates on all the latest information and opportunities.
The school is active in supporting students with School-based Traineeships, Apprenticeships, and flexible work placements, and has developed co-operative links with industry and consultative services. Post-school/study transition is facilitated, with school trips to visit Universities and Careers Expos.
