The Learning Centre
Our Learning Centre, opened in 2011, is an excellent space which will cater to the needs of every student from Kindergarten to Year 12.
Cutting edge fibre optic cabling has recently been installed, utilizing the latest technology available for high-speed network access. Sixteen new desktop computers with large flat-screen monitors complement this new technology. New state-of-the-art network servers have been commissioned to support our future growth and plans for the new horizon, and a campus-wide wireless network is in development to support a range of mobile teaching devices.
An inviting reading room provides our infants and primary students with a wonderful range of books and also offers a state-of-the-art interactive whiteboard for use by all classes. A large framed area on the western wall of the library has been dedicated to displaying an ever-changing collection of students’ works.
Not only are there large spaces designed for students to study and work, but there are also quiet nooks created for silent reading or small group meetings. The Senior Study area, incorporating an additional nine new desktop computers, is situated at the rear of the Library and easily accommodates our Year 11 and 12 students, building on our innovative approach to senior schooling.
A welcome addition to our Learning Centre is the Careers Advisor’s office. It is an invaluable tool to our students as they mature and as they develop interests that will shape their future career paths. Our Learning Centre caters to the needs of every student within our school and helps them to love reading, studying, researching, and learning.
Strengths Initiatives for Parents and Students
Our Strengths Program will open new horizons, teaching parents to recognise and foster their child’s Strengths. Students’ Strengths will be enhanced with innovative teaching programs, particularly in English. Senior students will be taught to develop their Strengths and apply them in career paths that will best utilize their natural skills and interests.
Visual Design Course
In the Visual Design course, students will have the opportunity to develop and manage their own online businesses. Students will be taught to use cutting-edge graphic design technology, preparing them for careers in visual communications. Consequently, our students’ education will be more relevant to current industrial practices in the fields of design, marketing, and digital and print Media. This new adventure will enable students to liaise with local businesses and actually take part in the process of dealing with real clients. Students will learn networking, one tool for success in the business world, which will allow them to more effectively serve the needs of the client and produce a finished product. In conjunction with the Board of Studies syllabus, students will learn about the realities of the business world. In effect, we are building a new bridge to our local community, thus making education more relevant to our students and empowering them to be successful in the business arena.
