Heritage is a Biblically based school. This Biblical foundation leads to the conviction that God wires each of us so we have certain talents. Our specific set of God-given talents is a major part of what makes us a unique person.
Our talents empower us, enabling us to move to higher levels of achievement and fulfil our potential. And not only do our talents allow us to do something well once; they allow us to do it well over and over. Because talents are naturally recurring patterns, they are automatic, like breathing, so they repeatedly help us to achieve, potentially at levels of excellence.
It may be helpful to think of these talents as ‘diamonds in the rough’; they are wired into us but they need to be refined. As we acquire knowledge and develop skills we can refine our talents into strengths.
Through more than 20,000 in-depth interviews and approaching 3 million online surveys with people from all walks of life, the Gallup Organisation has made a finding that is simple but profound: top achievers in virtually every profession, career and field all build their lives upon their talents. They take their God-given wiring and ‘add value’, developing the raw material of their talents into strengths. They major on their strengths, while managing their weaknesses.
At Heritage we seek to recognise talents in all members of our school community, and build them into strengths for the benefit of all.
